Whis email finds you well and trust you are now recovered from the Christmas festivities, raring to get back into the rugby after the break! All 6 Nations games will be on at the club, starting tonight with France v Wales. The club will be open from 5pm for Happy Hour and a quiz.

From the Board

Let's start with the good news!

Ormskirk’s very own Aidan Hoy has been selected for England North U18s squad. His hard work and commitment has paid off so this is well deserved.

Everyone at the club is right behind you Aidan.

Unfortunately, the weather dictated a lot of December’s games with cancellations throughout the UK at all levels.

Nevertheless everyone at the club made the most of the free time to celebrate Christmas together.

Big thanks to Jay Croston who liaised with the various bars in Ormskirk to organise the annual Santa bar crawl on December 14th. It was a great night......we think!

Special thanks to Jon Routledge, Jonny Armstrong and Anders Malm who organised the MJS breakfast with Santa. It was great to see that amount of children making memories with their team mates.

As you will see from the Car park there are six new containers that will replace our old, tired existing containers. We would ask you to be mindful of space when parking at the club in the coming weeks whilst work is carried out.

The board have agreed to work being carried out on the club shop, so watch this space for improvements in the club for this area. If anyone wishes to volunteer to work in the shop please let me know.

Volunteers have come forward to form a Centenary Committee. They will be responsible for guiding us through our centenary celebrations. Thank you to all who have joined the group. Again, if you wish to join please get in touch.

Keep your eyes peeled for a date announcement for a spring clean at the club...Bacon butties & brews provided.

We are looking for any old memorabilia or photos that anyone may have, so we can exhibit as part of our centenary celebrations. If you do have any please bring them along to the club.

A special mention to Hannah Hague who has stepped down as MJS Chair. Her work in the MJS section was massively appreciated. Thank you Hannah.

From the Ladies

After such a long break from playing due to the weather, the ladies were out in full force last Sunday for our away game against Wirral. Although the game didn’t go our way, it was such a big improvement and the energy felt great. Our defensive play has greatly improved and now we look to build on our attacking play.

This Sunday we look forward to facing Macclesfield in a home game.

We are still training every Thursday from 6:30pm at the club and welcome anyone who would like to give rugby a go.

From The Bar

As the Six Nations kicks into action, the main focus from the bar will be our weekly offers spread across a range of drinks.

However before all that we have our Happy Hour from 5-7pm on Friday on the run up to the Quiz Night. All bottles will be 3 for 2 with the exception of wines.

We’ve also got unclaimed monogrammed sliders that people need to pick up. Please ask at the bar for yours!

From the Seniors

Despite some good wins before Xmas momentum was stopped by the weather with games against Burnley and Garstang cancelled.

The gingerbread men have had a slow start to 2025 coming up short against Dukinfield and drawing with Orrell.

In Kirk's defence they have had a number of injuries and availability issues, so players have stepped in where they don't usually play.

Special mention to back row, jackle machine, Josh "the bosh" Aldwinckle who has stepped up to play in the number 10 shirt in recent weeks.

Head coach Andy Evans says that Kirk need not panic and believes things will click into place:

“We've been unfortunate with injuries but the lads who have stepped up have been great, still holding shape and sticking to the game plan. Things will click into place we just need to be consistent".
