Dear Member, I hope you and your families are coping well with the easing of the Covid 19 lockdown restrictions. Please see, below, the latest news from The Club and a review of events, as well as an update on RFU activity.
Club News
Preseason training for the men started on Tuesday 27th and Thursday 29th July, with great turnouts.
Our Head Coach, Ben Mitchell, is investigating methods for match analysis by videoing the 1st XV matches. While at the early stages, we have several proposals which we are reviewing. If there is anyone within our membership who has experience in this field, or knows of anybody that does and would be willing to film the matches, please let me know and we will look to integrate this experience into our decision making process. Following the request by Matt Scahill to the Mini and Junior section coaches, for the return of their first aid kits – pending the planned RFU First Aid training on 29th August 2021and 5th September 2021 – I would like to further this request and ask again for your compliance to help complete this vital Rugby Safe Requirement. So far, we have received limited response. If you read the latest club email regarding the upcoming AGM and followed the link, you will notice that we now have a new website. Matty Greenhalgh, Comms & Events Officer, and Matt Scahill, Business Development Officer, have been busy building this new site over the last few months as we look to take the club forward with a new virtual home – in the hope of attracting new members, sponsors, and more. There is a lot of hard work, time, and effort has gone into this first step in building a central hub for information, news, and events at the Club and, in time, it will become not only a portal to club memberships and activities but a place where we can publicise and celebrate the achievements of all our members and teams. I’d like to say thanks to all involved and welcome you to please enter ormskirkrugby.co.uk in your search bar to have a look. We are keen to hear feedback on what you would like to feature and important content you feel should be added to the site, so please address any comments to communications@ormskirkrugby.co.uk Last month’s 200 Club was drawn on Saturday 31st July 2021, live during the South Africa v British and Irish Lions game. The winner was Ean Quirk, a senior player, Mini parent, and coach who receives the £200.
