From the Coaches
The newly formed coaching group consisting of Alex Lambie, Mark Baillie, Andrew Evans, Si Staniforth, and Neil Habberfield have started pre-season training, and here's what they had to say:
Pre-season rugby training has been exceptionally productive, laying a strong foundation for the upcoming season. The players have shown remarkable dedication and improvement, both in fitness and skill levels. Intensive conditioning sessions have enhanced their endurance and strength, while targeted drills have refined their tactical understanding and technical abilities. The team's cohesion has significantly improved, with new players integrating seamlessly, and veterans stepping up as leaders. Coaches are pleased with the progress, noting that the squad is displaying great synergy and readiness for competitive play. Overall, the pre-season has set an optimistic tone for a successful season ahead.
Training is currently Tuesday & Thursday 6.30-8pm - all are welcome.
On Saturday 10th August we travel to Parkonians to attempt to retain the Taff cup, please come along and support.

From the Ladies
The Ladies have been busy over the summer recruiting for the team, handing out leaflets and business cards within the surrounding local areas.
Preseason has begun and our main focus is to improve our fitness for the new season. Coaches Esther and Dave have been putting on a fitness boot camp with circuits that have included weight training, running, and handling skills.
We are continuing to build our team and are always looking for new ladies to join us. No previous experience is necessary, just come down have fun and make new friends. We train every Thursday at the Club from 6:30pm.
From the Bar
From 1st August we are introducing a new discount rate for all club members.
Instead of a 30p discount on beers and spirits there will now be 10% of all alcoholic drinks prices.
The bar staff no longer have a members card they can apply so please remember to bring your card with you whenever you visit the club or you won’t be able to take advantage of the discount.
This scheme will cover senior, social and MJS members over 18.
If you have not already got a members card please see Mike or a member of the bar team. New cards will have been created for all those who have up to date subscriptions and of course all life members.
There will also be drinks offers for selected events for which you will also need your card to qualify.
We have agreed an arrangement with Bully’s crisps for future supplies of their products and we will shortly take delivery of a new darts board with cabinet and all the necessary bit and pieces (like darts!!).
For those of you who haven’t visited the club recently we now have a pool table for use by members and visitors.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Wendy for her service to the club as she moves on to pastures new.
Wendy worked tirelessly behind the bar, as well as preparing post-match food for the teams, and did an amazing job. We wish her all the best and hope to see her at the club in the future.
From the Board
The Volunteers weekend was a success, headed up by Brian Stevenson. Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to help.
The newly formed board held their first meeting and welcomed new members Hannah Hague (MJS chair) and Alex Lambie (DOR).
The board outlined the need for a clear vision and agreed new club Core Values which will be the foundation of all that we aim to achieve on and off the field.
During the AGM it was highlighted that the board lacks a ladies team representation, therefore, Esther and Dave (Ladies team Coaches) nominated Sophie Rogers to join the board as the ladies team representative. We look forward to Sophie joining us.

From the MJS
All the MJS coaches met with the newly elected Chair of the Club, Neil Habberfield, MJS Chair, Hannah Hague, and Director of Rugby, Alex Lambie, in July.
It was a great turnout with representatives from all the age groups present.
To celebrate the launch of our new club values, all the age groups in the MJS section (u6-u16) will have a 3m age group flag to display during training and match days. The flags are intended to help parents, players and visitors locate their age group on busy match days, whilst also providing a professional appearance for the club. The flags, proudly displays our club badge and our new club PROUD values.
On behalf of the MJS Section, Hannah would like to personally thank an anonymous donor from the MJS coaching staff for making a generous donation towards the purchase of new tackle bags, tackle shields, and a crash mat for use across the whole MJS section. This equipment will be invaluable to helping our young players learn the skills and techniques to tackling in a safe manner. Thank you!
We have also launched a skills audit of all our existing coaches to understand where we can help coaches develop and progress in their coaching skills. We are always on the look out for suitable coaches across all age groups, so please, if you are interested in coaching, do not hesitate to contact Hannah in the first instance.
