Dear Member,
A fantastic night was had by all who attended the Ormskirk RUFC 2022-23 presentation night on 5/5/23, with a Hog roast followed by homemade cakes - washed down with lots of drink!
The event was organised by Neil Habberfield, his partner Samantha, Sophie Rogers and Jay Croston, his partner Lucy, and anyone else I've forgotten. A massive thanks to them.
On the 12th June we have a crazy mad fool (his description) called Mark Philpott, (a Kiwi ultra distance runner) arriving at Ormskirk RUFC clubhouse as part of his charity run from Lands End to John O'Groats, visiting rugby clubs along the way, and in aid of Looseheadz mental health charity. He will cover 1000 miles over 70 days in 3 countries.
Our President Bruce Porteous has kindly offered to put him and his wife (support vehicle driver) up for the night. Please come to the Club between 19.00 and 22.00 to support him
There will be an RFU Tackle variation coaching session held at our Club led by the Lancashire RFU coaching co-ordinator Delta Williams and to be held on 14th June 2023 at 18.30 to 20.30
If you wish to enrol on this course use this link.
We again look forward to our summer festival and Sevens on Saturday 17th June. Anyone wishing to sponsor a barrel, or wanting to volunteer to do a small stint on the BBQ, then let me know. Details are on our social media pages.
Anyone willing to sponsor a beer barrel please complete the following documents in the links below:
Please find attached 2 links to the sponsorship, 1) info form and 2) payment link.

The 2023 AGM will follow on Wednesday 28th June, starting 19.30for which you will receive a invitation by mailchimp and on the website soon.
As the Club are storing a large quantity of lost property involving clothing (mainly training tops, beany hats, gloves), and footwear (rugby boots and trainers). I will leave them in shower area ball cage, up till the AGM date, after which any remaining items will be disposed of. Some of the boots are in good condition, and given the current cost of living issues, if anyone wants any boots for their child to play in, then message or phone me on the number below. After the 19th June we are likely only to keep a limited number of boots, with the remainder recycled.
There will be a volunteer weekend planned, date to be decided but likely late June/early July. So please if anyone can volunteer in any way to help maintain our Clubhouse and grounds. Please let me know on the email and telephone number below.
You will have received two Google Docs surveys in the last 2 months. The first was on paying apparel and stash for which there was a good response. for which we are planning to engage Hardgear (Canterbury) for a further year. Thanks also to our current shirt sponsors for supporting us financially for a further year.
Further thanks to the Mini and Junior coaches who returned the playing shirts to the Club on 14th June, for which we catalogue any missing shirts and replace accordingly with Hardgear.
The second survey was on volunteering and to tease out what skills are available within the Club. Disappointedly there was only a limited response to this latter survey. Thanks to those that did respond, and as volunteers are the lifeblood of the Club, a relevant board member to your skill set, will be in touch with those that responded.
The April 200 Club draw was actually won by myself, but before anyone cries out "fix" my number was independently drawn by Bruce Porteous.
I have donated part of the £200 prize to the Club.
On a very sad note, John Disley, an Octogenarian social member, died recently after a long health condition, with his funeral occurring on 16/05/23.
We will miss him!
Any questions or responses to any of the points above please get in touch with me by mail or the telephone below
