Dear Member,

I hope you are enjoying watching the Rugby World Cup 2023, which the Club are televising all the major games.

Please come down and support your Club at these games!

Our season started with our 1st XV narrowly losing to Chorley in the Lancashire (Alan Stone) Bowl on 26/8/23, then again narrowly losing 30-31 to Clitheroe on 16/9/23 at Green Lane.

Our 2nd XV beat Burnley 2nds at 61-5 at Holden Road.

The under 17 colts lost narrowly 12-0 to Whitchurch away on, with the game abandoned at 55minutes as a result of a bad injury to one of our colts. That result stands.

The following week they beat Caldy Colts 33-12 at Green Lane, then beat Stockport 19-14, on Sunday 17/9, also at Green Lane.

Our Ladies played Bury at Radcliffe Road on 17/8/23, drawing 22-22.

The Mini and Junior section are now training with fixtures organised for the coming weeks.

We look forward to this coming weekend 23rd & 24th September with:

1st XV away to Wigan ko 14.30

2nd XV at home to Preston Grass Hopper's 5th team, ko 15.00

Colts away to Lymm, ko 12.30

A message from our Events and Communications Officer, Mark Slater:

ORUFC will be hosting Oktoberfest on the 29th and 30th of September (which is the traditional time of the year for this festival in Germany). The All Blacks are playing on Friday night, and Liverpool play on Saturday before Scotland take on Romania. The 1s are at home against Burnley, and the 2s will travel to local rivals Blackpool. German festival beer will be flowing on tap and sold in litre steins. Bottles of specialist German beer will also be on offer. Food will be available for purchase.

The Edge Hill University Fresher's Fayre was held on 27/9/23, attended by Lea, Steven Grant, Dave and myself to showcase Ormskirk RUFC. We were able to get some new faces down for the 2s.

I must tell you I have won the August 200 Club draw. Before anyone calls fix, it was drawn by Sara Ainscough , witnessed by our President Bruce Porteous.
